“Collaboration is the core principle. Together, five artists are harnessing and expanding the chaos and complexity of their collective processes as part of our educational research programme As We Grow. After two weeks, their mutual exploring of ideas of shared spaces, multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory approaches will lead to a group show investigating new futures, worlds, and ideas.”
Mine part of exhibition:
My contribution to our exhibition delves into the collective discussions that shaped our shared experiences. I have chosen to explore the dichotomy between risk and safety and their interplay. I therefore try to present the oxymoron of 'safe risk' in a feasible and understandable way.
The idea of emphasizing safe space as a crucial moment stems from the tendencies of my personal artistic work. By using fabric as the main element, I bring a sense of comfort and safety into it. Conversely, the transparency of the fabric used, along with the chosen colour scheme, brings about an unsettling and risky feeling, exposing the viewer to their surroundings.
Incorporating stitched depictions of characters and entities, integral to my broader world-building projects, I endeavor to convey my personal interpretation of a safe space more effectively.
